When Ruby was born, I suddenly felt like a new man. And the first time I held her in my arms, I made a promise to her and myself. “Daddy promise to always take care of you, to love you and to give you the very best in life.”
In the past, I was working mainly for me. When I made some money, I would treat myself (after setting some aside for my investments of course). Simple things like a nice meal. Or a quick getaway. Or a new gadget. Nowadays, those things seem so superficial. Because I’m a different person. And it’s all thanks to Ruby.
𝗪𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧, 𝐈 𝐬𝐮𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐦𝐚𝐧. And the first time I held her in my arms, I made a promise to her and myself. “Daddy promise to always take care of you, to love you and to give you the very best in life.” Isn’t it amazing that someone so tiny can make such a massive difference in a person’s life direction? Now, I’m not just working for myself. 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲. 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐟𝐞. 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐮𝐛𝐲.
It takes a village to raise a child.
We cannot just wake up one morning and decide that we are going to be a great parent. We need to commit and dedicate ourselves to the ‘job’. This may take a lot of effort to accomplish, but it is worth it in the end. We want the best for our children, and we will be amazing parents.
A great coach and consultant doesn’t just have passion. He has commitment and dedication. And he’ll work hard to do his best. He will spend hours every day developing his knowledge, practicing his skills and improving his techniques. He will make himself the absolute best at what he does.
How we do anything is how we do everything. As I put 100% commitment and dedication to my family, I will also put 100% commitment and dedication to my business and work. And I will go the extra miles for my clients.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
It’s fascinating to watch little Ruby, standing, walking and falling. No matter how many times she fall, she will get up and walk again.
We’ve all been there before: we’ve failed, we’ve fallen, we’ve made mistakes. The important thing is we must recover from our falling quickly.
It can be hard to bounce back from a set back. People often think that the only way to get past it is to go backwards. But that’s not the case. When faced with adversity, people who are resilient and adaptable move forwards. They keep their eyes fixed on what they need to achieve. They don’t get bogged down by failures or setbacks. Instead, they learn from them.
If you’re feeling down, stressed out, or just need a boost of motivation to get through the day – look at the little children. They keep going on, no matter what.
Our resilience is our greatest asset. Never give up.
The moment we become a parent, our time and our resources are all divided.
Becoming a parent is one of the most joyous moments in life. But it is also one of the most challenging times when it comes to managing time and resources.
In the first few months of a newborn’s life, time might seem abundant. But as soon as the baby starts to grow and learn, we soon realize that there is a limited amount of time we have. There will be new milestones and development stages, which means new feedings, diaper changes and more. In order to manage your time wisely, we should set boundaries for ourselves. One of the most important things is to establish a routine for sleeping and feeding that works for your family.
And as we all know, it can be expensive to raise a family in Singapore. Especially if you want them to have the very best! We have to allocate resources for our kids and allocate resources for ourselves. We need to take care of both parts of life without compromising on either one. This means that I have to be more conscious in my spending and have to make concrete, achievable plans for both children education and retirement planning.
It is important for us not to wait until later to make arrangements for our finances. If we start planning ahead now then we will be better prepared when it eventually comes to making decisions about our money.
With Ruby in my life, I cannot afford to fail now.
I need to continue leveling up my skill sets. 𝐒𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐲 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬. 𝐒𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐮𝐬𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐝. No exceptions. No other way.
Just this year alone, I have attended KASHGROWTH and have developed and enhance my personal competency by enriching my current knowledge base and exposed to the winning attitudes and habits of highly effective people.
Besides that, I have also completed 3 out of 6 Modules of CFP (Certified Financial Planner) and gotten my title as a Associate Wealth Planner. The CFP credential is the most popular of all professional designations, with nearly 1.4 million CFPs worldwide. This unique designation is one of only seven granted by the Certified Financial Planning Board.
Am I putting too much pressure on myself? Perhaps. But it’s worth it if Ruby can enjoy all the finer things in life, and also to get a head-start over her peers when she grows up.
When I was younger, I never imagined that fatherhood would change me so much. I guess I have grown up.
